Having led Victoria’s COVID response, Sandy Pitcher, now the Chief Executive at the Department of Human Services for the South Australian Government, acknowledges that there are lots of lessons she has learned in having to deal with so much complexity in this frequently asked question. Sandy goes on to share the stand-out learning of running towards a common goal, where you can do things fast and strong, but that it’s important to know that you will lose some goodness along the way and that a happier medium is working to a shared vision and authorising environment in achieving great outcomes.
